| I began decorating cakes as a hobby in the fall of 2000, and I quickly realized that I discovered something I truly enjoyed doing! While I've been baking most of my life, decorating my baked goods was such a pleasure, and I enjoyed brightening the days of my friends and family with desserts that looked pretty, as well as tasted great. Six months after I began decorating, I was hired to teach Wilton Cake Decorating. Over the course of 5 years, I taught more than 350 students. September 2003 brought another turn of events... I left a 20 year career in Accounting and returned to school. I recently completed a culinary program, having pursued degrees in both Culinary Arts and Professional Baking. May 2004 - construction began on a licensed kitchen... in September 2004 Diane's Sweet Treats officially opened for business. I am licensed by the State of Connecticut. I am a proud member of the International Cake Exploration Societé, and have recently serve as an alternate representative for the CT chapter of ICES. I have attended conferences sponsored by ICES in Las Vegas NV, Washington DC, Kansas City MO, Grapevine TX, and Omaha NE. I am a member of the Newington Chamber of Commerce.
